Two major events took place at the Ranchi Railway Division today: the 4th Divisional Railway Users’ Advisory Committee (DRUCC) meeting for the 2024–2026 term, and a farewell ceremony for retiring railway personnel.
Chaired by Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Karuna Nidhi Singh, the meeting began with a warm welcome to all committee members, thanking them for their valuable contributions. Shreya Singh, Sr. DCM-cum-CPRO and Committee Secretary, led the proceedings and presented a PowerPoint report detailing recent achievements, ongoing projects, and passenger amenities.
The DRM stated that new trains have been introduced in 2026 including– Anand Vihar Terminal–Purulia–Anand Vihar Terminal Express, Tirupati–Raxaul–Tirupati Express, Podanur–Dhanbad–Podanur Amrit Bharat Express, Bhubaneswar–Dhanbad–Bhubaneswar Express, Hatia–Durg–Hatia Express.
Additionally, between October 2025 and June 2026, the division successfully operated 131 pairs of special trains and 16 pairs of exam special trains for passengers and students.
During the meeting, key demands and proposals were raised from the Committee members including direct connectivity to Rishikesh, Raipur, Bhopal, Ayodhya, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Haridwar, Dehradun, and South Indian destinations. Routes linking Ranchi to Puri, Raipur, Bhubaneswar, and Lucknow (via Ayodhya) through Vande Bharat Express. Track Doubling: Muri–Chandil, Muri–Barkakana, and Ranchi–Tori line double-tracking projects. More weekly services for trains bound for Kamakhya, Bengaluru, and Gorakhpur.
On the same day, 1 officer—Vijay Prasad (Assistant Executive Engineer)—and 9 employees retired from service. The employees who retired included Kameshwar Mahto, Jataru Kujur, Sudhir Kumar Singh, Ashok Lohra, Surendra Kumar Seth, Umesh Kumar, Jitu Kalindi, Upendra Nath Pathak, and Rajendra Oraon.
