On International Youth Day (12 August 2026), Bal Kalyan Sangh and the International Labour Organization (ILO) hosted a stakeholder consultation in Ranchi on ending child labour and trafficking.
Chief Guest Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar urged collective action, emphasizing that educating every child and protecting remote communities is crucial for Viksit Bharat@2047.
Labour Secretary Jitendra Kumar Singh reported that FY 2025–26 saw 20,700 inspections, 87 rescues, 59 FIRs, and 24 school enrollments. For FY 2026–27 (through August), 812 inspections have yielded 52 rescues. He urged heightened vigilance in high-risk districts like Khunti, Simdega, and Gumla. Youth Affairs Secretary Mukesh Kumar called for comprehensive post-rescue support, including health, education, and skill development.
A major milestone of the event was the launch of the joint Bal Kalyan Sangh–ILO State Action Plan on Child Labour, which outlines a five-year strategy focused on prevention, rescue, rehabilitation, and youth-led awareness.
