DUMKA: In a major move to facilitate devotees during Shravani Mela 2026, promote religious tourism, and ensure swift connectivity, the Civil Aviation Division of the Cabinet Secretariat and Monitoring Department of the Government of Jharkhand is launching a helicopter service starting August 4, 2026, connecting Deoghar and Basukinath.
Operated courtesy of the Civil Aviation Department through the Jharkhand Flying Institute (JFI), the service will be available to the general public on a commercial rental basis. Pilgrims will have the opportunity to experience aerial views of both Deoghar and Basukinath Dham alongside point-to-point chopper travel between the twin sacred destinations.
To ensure seamless operations, the Basukinath helipad in the Dumka district has been developed as the primary base helipad. Comprehensive logistical arrangements and safety protocols have been put in place to guarantee smooth flights, accompanied by extensive public outreach to maximize accessibility for visitors.
The tariff structure has been finalized to cater to pilgrims, featuring a fare of INR 2,850 for a 7 to 10-minute aerial sightseeing tour of either Deoghar or Basukinath. Additionally, an aerial tour from Deoghar to Trikut spanning 10 to 15 minutes is priced at INR 3,750, while a one-way helicopter transfer between Deoghar and Basukinath has been set at INR 4,500.
