Marking Hul Diwas, Littipara MLA Hemlal Murmu on Tuesday paid floral tributes to the statues of Hul Revolution martyrs Sidho, Kanhu, Chand, Bhairav, Phulo and Jhano at several locations across Pakur and Dumka districts, honouring their historic struggle against British colonial rule and the oppression of tribal communities.
Accompanied by JMM central committee member and youth leader Vikas Murmu, the MLA visited Kalajhor, Paderkola Chowk, the Heritage Memorial at the Amrapara Block Office, and Gumma More in Gopikandar block to offer floral tributes. Several party leaders and workers also joined the commemorative programme.
Addressing the gathering, Murmu described Hul Diwas as one of the earliest organised revolts against British rule and a lasting symbol of resistance against injustice, exploitation and atrocities faced by Adivasis.
“I pay my heartfelt tribute to every revolutionary who raised their voice for India’s freedom and against British brutality. Hul Diwas symbolises resistance against every form of injustice and tyranny. I offer my deepest respects to Sidho, Kanhu, Chand, Bhairav and all the brave revolutionaries who sacrificed their lives for the dignity and rights of our people,” he said.
Murmu said the legacy of the Hul Revolution continues to inspire future generations to uphold justice, equality and the constitutional rights of tribal communities. He urged the youth to remember the sacrifices of the martyrs and remain committed to preserving the cultural heritage and identity of indigenous communities.
The programme was attended by several JMM leaders, office-bearers, workers and supporters from across the Littipara Assembly constituency.
