IIM Bodh Gaya celebrates 11th Foundation Day

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bodh Gaya celebrated its 11th Foundation Day on Monday, marking another milestone in its journey of academic excellence while launching its first Executive PhD programme and welcoming the sixth batch of the Integrated Programme in Management (IPM).
An Orientation Programme held on August 31 formally marked the beginning of the academic journey of the new students. The institute inducted 207 IPM students, including 70 females and 137 males. The inaugural Executive PhD batch comprises 14 scholars, including 12 males and two females.
The programme began with Ganesh Vandana and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Prof Aviral Kumar Tiwari, Chairperson, PhD, introduced the Executive PhD programme, while Prof Archana Patro, Chairperson, IPM, briefed students about the IPM programme.
IIM Bodh Gaya Director Prof Vinita S Sahay welcomed the new students and highlighted the unique significance of Bodh Gaya as a centre of spiritual heritage. She emphasised the importance of investing in human capital and urged students to harness their youthful energy for innovation and transformative growth. She encouraged them to think boldly and “leapfrog” ahead in shaping the region’s future.
Bihar Urban Development and Housing and Information Technology Minister Nitish Mishra, the chief guest, highlighted the state’s growing startup ecosystem. He said more than 1,700 startups had been approved and funded by the Bihar government, while the broader ecosystem comprises nearly 5,000 startups.
The programme featured sessions by Dr Ruchi Dhawan Sharma, VP-HR, IndiGo, Lt Gen Sandeep Singh, Commandant, OTA Gaya, and industry leaders Amitabh Mohanty, Satyendra Khare and Pintu Kumar Jain.
The celebrations concluded with a ceremonial cake-cutting, cultural performances and felicitation of National Sports Day winners, recognising their dedication, resilience and sportsmanship.
