The District Administration, Bokaro, organised a felicitation ceremony on Monday to honour players and representatives of various sports associations on the occasion of National Sports Day-2026.
Deputy Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha said the objective is to strengthen the sports culture in Bokaro and provide talented players opportunities to reach the state, national and international levels. He urged sports associations to ensure that playgrounds remain active and identify talent at the grassroots level.
He said the “Ek Ghanta Khel Ke Maidan Mein” campaign, under which 1,577 people have uploaded photographs of participating in sports activities, has been extended for another month to encourage wider public participation.
Trainee IAS Arvind Radhakrishnan said Bokaro has no dearth of sporting talent and stressed the need for equal importance to all sports, along with proper training and opportunities for promising players. Representatives of various sports associations were presented medals and certificates for their contribution to sports activities and promotion.
