IIM RANCHI INDUCTION 2026

June 18, 2026

Focus on Leadership, Global Standards and Responsible Conduct

PNS

Ranchi

IIM Ranchi continued its Induction 2026 programme for the new batches of MBA, MBA-HRM, MBA-BA, and PhD students with a series of sessions focusing on global accreditation, career development, leadership, ethics, and responsible conduct.

The first session was conducted by Shikha Taunk, Strategic Engagement Manager – India, AMBA & BGA, who explained the importance of international accreditation in enhancing the quality, credibility, and continuous improvement of business schools. She urged students to adopt a “manager mindset” from the beginning of their academic journey and actively participate in institutional initiatives, networking, and community engagement. She also highlighted the growing significance of sustainability, social responsibility, and effective time management in the digital era, encouraging students to develop purposeful learning habits rather than relying on passive consumption of short-form content.

The second session featured Neelotpal Sahai, Director – Indian Equities & Head Offshore Advisory at HSBC Asset Management. Drawing from his experiences in technology, finance, and investment management, he encouraged students to view their careers as a continuous process of learning and adaptation. He stressed the importance of curiosity, resilience, honesty, and lifelong learning. Sahai highlighted the need to make decisions under uncertainty, focus on processes rather than outcomes, and learn from failures. He advised students to remain patient while making career choices and to approach financial and investment decisions with analysis, planning, and discipline.

The induction programme also included orientation sessions on student welfare and institutional policies. Prof. Jyoti Verma, Chairperson of the Student Engagement and Development Committee, briefed students on the institute’s Anti-Ragging Policy, compliance procedures, and consequences of violations. Prof. Shweta Jha, Chairperson of the Internal Committee, addressed students on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act and emphasised the importance of maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive campus environment.

The day concluded with a session by Col. Tarun Kumar Jha (Retd.), Administrative Officer – Programme (I/C), who guided students on classroom etiquette, academic processes, attendance rules, and the functioning of the Academic Programme Office.

The sessions were aimed at preparing students for both academic excellence and responsible professional leadership.
