Jharkhand girl Palak selected for women’s U-19 cricket squad

Jharkhand cricketer Kumari Palak (also known as Palak Kumari) has been selected for the India Women’s Under-19 team for their upcoming series against Sri Lanka, making history as the first female cricketer from the Ranchi District Cricket Association to represent the national side.

The Indian Under-19 women’s cricket team has been announced for the upcoming ODI and T20 series against Sri Lanka. Kumari Palak from Jharkhand has been included in the squad. Although she hails from the Deoghar district of Jharkhand, she represents the Ranchi district.

Shailendra Kumar, Secretary of the Ranchi District Cricket Association, stated that Kumari Palak began her cricketing journey with the Ormanjhi Cricket Club. Her coach is Pankshit Kumar Mahto, and she continues to play under his guidance. Kumari Palak previously lived near the Durga Bari Temple in Deoghar district but has been residing in Ranchi for about 14 years. She is currently pursuing her education at Ram Tahal Inter College, Ormanjhi. While her father has passed away, her mother, Smt. Sangeeta Bhagat, works at the Women’s Police Station and encouraged her to take up cricket. Today, she has brought glory to both her state and her family. Everyone extends their best wishes to Kumari Palak.

The Women’s Selection Committee has selected the India Women’s Under-19 team for the upcoming IDFC First Bank Sri Lanka Women’s Under-19 tour of India. The tour will comprise three T20 matches and three ODI matches. India Women’s Under-19 T20 Team: Bhavika Ahire (Captain) (Wicketkeeper), Ira Jadhav, Tanishka Sharma, Ishwari Avasare, Avani Chavda, Mahto Nidhi, Purva Sivach, Kumari Palak, Mahak Narwase (Vice-Captain), Kashvi Kandikuppa, Maniyar Maitri, Gauri Goyal, Janhavi Virkar, Anadi Tagde, K Diksha (Wicketkeeper).

India Women’s Under-19 ODI Team: Bhavika Ahire (Captain) (Wicketkeeper), Ira Jadhav, Diya Yadav, Ishwari Avasare, V Pratiksha, Mahto Nidhi, Purva Sivach, Kumari Palak, Mahak Narwase (Vice-Captain), Kashvi Kandikuppa, Vidhi Parmar, Gauri Goyal, Janhavi Virkar, Anadi Tagde, K Diksha (Wicketkeeper).
