JMM alleges voter deletion under SIR drive

June 17, 2026

Ranchi

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) Central General Secretary and spokesperson Vinod Kumar Pandey on Wednesday alleged that voters’ names were being removed from electoral rolls under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise and urged party workers to remain vigilant to prevent eligible voters from being excluded.

Addressing a booth-level workers’ conference organised by the Khunti district unit of JMM at the town hall, Pandey claimed that names were being deleted from voter lists without justification under the SIR process. He alleged that similar exercises in other states had resulted in large numbers of voters being removed from electoral rolls and questioned the intent behind the exercise.

He said the deletion of names from voter lists could deprive citizens of their democratic and constitutional rights and called upon Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to closely monitor the revision process to ensure that no eligible voter is removed from the rolls.

The conference was presided over by district president Zubair Ahmed, who said the interaction would strengthen the organisation and energise party workers.

Among those addressing the gathering were Vikas Kumar Munda, Sudip Gudiya and Ramsurya Munda. The legislators urged party workers to take the SIR process seriously and ensure that genuine voters are not left out of the electoral rolls.

Earlier in the day, Pandey and other party leaders paid floral tributes to statues of tribal icon Birsa Munda, Jaipal Singh Munda, Bhagat Singh and Subhas Chandra Bose in Khunti.

The programme also included an audio-visual training session on SIR conducted by the party’s expert team. Numerous district and frontal organisation leaders attended the conference.
