The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) Ranchi district committee on Saturday paid floral tribute to veteran Jharkhand movement leader and martyr Nirmal Mahato on his 39th death anniversary at his life-size statue at Shaheed Nirmal Mahato Chowk in Ranchi.
The programme was organised under the leadership of Dr Hemlal Kumar Mehta, JMM central member and district and metropolitan convener, with party central general secretary and spokesperson Vinod Kumar Pandey attending as the chief guest.
Addressing party workers and the media, Pandey said the contribution of martyrs who fought for the creation of Jharkhand could never be forgotten.
He said the JMM and the state government were working towards fulfilling the aspirations of the people by following the path shown by Nirmal Mahato and other leaders of the Jharkhand movement.
“Development of Jharkhand is possible only by following the path shown by Shaheed Nirmal Mahato,” Pandey said. He added that the vision Nirmal Mahato had for Jharkhand was gradually taking shape and expressed confidence that the Hemant Soren-led government would work to fulfil that vision.
Party leaders and workers present at the programme included central member and metropolitan convener Antu Tirkey, central member and district and metropolitan convener Ashwini Sharma, Ramsharan Tirkey, Lalji Raman among others.
