The weather in Jharkhand remained pleasant and slightly cool right from Friday morning. The intense heat and humidity were not as pronounced on the day, providing people with a sense of relief early in the day.
Light drizzle began shortly after 9:00 AM, bringing about a further change in the weather conditions. These light showers made the atmosphere even more delightful.
This shift in the weather offered people partial relief from the heat, and a drop in temperature was recorded.
A decline in temperature was recorded across several districts of Jharkhand on Thursday, providing residents with some respite from the heat. Weather patterns are also undergoing a change; due to a cyclonic circulation, the likelihood of pre-monsoon showers occurring in the state has increased for the coming days.
On Thursday, Ranchi recorded a maximum temperature of 36.4 degrees Celsius—a decrease of 0.6 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature stood at 22.2 degrees Celsius. In Jamshedpur, rainfall kept the maximum temperature even lower than that of Ranchi, settling at 36.0 degrees Celsius. Medininagar recorded a maximum temperature of 41.0 degrees Celsius, marking a decline of 2.8 degrees Celsius over the preceding 24 hours.
The Meteorological Centre in Ranchi has indicated that there is a possibility of thunderstorms and rain in several parts of the state—including Ranchi—between May 29 and June 1. In light of this, the Meteorological Centre has issued a Yellow Alert. Several districts of Jharkhand may witness a further decline in maximum temperatures over the coming days.
According to the forecast issued by the Meteorological Centre, the Southwest Monsoon has not yet reached Kerala. The monsoon currently remains stalled between the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Kerala. However, the Meteorological Department has issued a Yellow Alert regarding rainfall for several districts within Kerala.
The monsoon is expected to arrive in Kerala sometime between May 29 and June 3. If the monsoon reaches Kerala by June 3, it is likely to arrive in Jharkhand between June 14 and June 17. The Meteorological Department has indicated that, due to El Niño, the monsoon is likely to be below normal this time.
