Two children who were separated from their families during the ongoing Rajkiya Shravani Mela 2026 were safely reunited with their relatives with the help of Information and Assistance Centres set up by the district administration.
In the first case, a one-and-a-half-year-old child who was unable to speak was found separated from his family and brought to the Khijuria Information and Assistance Centre. Officials immediately began efforts to trace his parents. After the family reached the centre, the child was handed over to his relatives following thorough verification.
In another incident, Varsha Kumari got separated from her family amid the heavy crowd. Staff at the Baba Mandir Information and Assistance Centre promptly located her and reunited her with her father, Sunil Kumar.
The two families expressed gratitude to the district administration and the centre staff for their prompt and sensitive response.
The Information and Assistance Centres have been operating across the mela area to help devotees who lose contact with their family members. Besides tracing missing persons, the centres provide guidance and other assistance to pilgrims during the month-long pilgrimage.
The administration has strengthened arrangements for the safety and convenience of devotees attending the Shravani Mela, which draws large numbers of pilgrims from across the country and abroad.
