Local Residents Gather for Yoga and Meditation Session at Swami Sriyukteswar Giri Smriti Mandir
Despite adverse weather conditions, nearly 215 local residents gathered at the Swami Sriyukteswar Giri Smriti Mandir for a special programme organized by the YSS Serampore Dhyan Kendra to mark International Day of Yoga.
The programme opened with an inaugural song presented by teachers of the Children’s Sunday Satsanga, followed by yoga and meditation sessions, including a synchronized yoga demonstration highlighting the harmony, discipline, and artistry of yogic practice.
Swami Achyutananda Giri then conducted a seminar on meditation, prayer, and visualization techniques. In his discourse, he explained how these spiritual practices contribute to inner peace, mental clarity, and overall well-being.
The programme was graced by Sri Bhaskar Bhattacharya, Hon’ble Minister of State for Labour and Public Health Engineering (PHE), Government of West Bengal, who attended as Chief Guest. Speaking after the seminar, he said he had come primarily to listen and had gained much from the discussions, adding that he had nothing further to add to what had already been shared.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks to all attendees, volunteers, and participants, along with gratitude offered to God and Guru, acknowledging that the programme’s success rested on Their blessing.
The celebration offered the local community an opportunity to experience the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of yoga and meditation, reaffirming the timeless teachings of the Guru, as part of the nationwide observance of International Day of Yoga.
