Serious questions are being raised regarding the absence of action against Amit Kumar Gupta despite the registration of multiple criminal cases and the recent rejection of his anticipatory bail petition by the Sessions Court, Hazaribagh.
According to Barkagaon P.S. Case No. 231/2025, an FIR was registered alleging that Amit Kumar Gupta and several others unlawfully entered a restricted operational area of the Pakri Barwadih Coal Mining Project, threatened workers, abused personnel, and disrupted mining activities by stopping the conveyor belt and crusher system. The case has been registered under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Sections 190, 191(2), 115(2), 126(2), 132 and 352.
The matter subsequently came before the Sessions Judge, Hazaribagh, in Anticipatory Bail Petition No. 2456/2025. While rejecting the anticipatory bail plea on 03 January 2026, the Court observed that the allegations against the accused were corroborated by witnesses.
The Court order also records that petitioner Amit Kumar Gupta was allegedly involved in four other cases of a similar nature, namely Barkagaon (Dadikala O.P.) P.S. Case Nos. 368/2023, 15/2025, 77/2025 and 168/2025. The Court further noted the criminal antecedents of the petitioners and declined to grant anticipatory bail.
In view of the above developments, concerns are being expressed regarding the lack of effective administrative action despite repeated allegations, registration of criminal cases, and the rejection of anticipatory bail by the competent court. Local stakeholders have sought strict adherence to the rule of law and timely action by the concerned authorities to ensure that industrial operations, public order, and development activities are not adversely affected.
It is pertinent to note that the criminal cases remain under investigation and the allegations are yet to be finally adjudicated by the competent courts.
