With the objective of ensuring access to justice and free legal assistance for the most vulnerable sections of society, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Pakur, organised a one-day orientation and training programme for Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs).
The training focused on enhancing the role of PLVs in delivering legal aid at the grassroots level, promoting legal awareness in rural areas, and facilitating access to government welfare schemes for eligible beneficiaries.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Principal District and Sessions Judge-cum-DLSA Chairman Divakar Pandey. During the session, the performance of the PLVs was reviewed, their records were inspected, and necessary directions were issued to improve efficiency and strengthen implementation of legal aid activities.
Addressing the participants, DLSA Secretary Rupa Vandana Kiro described Para Legal Volunteers as a vital link between the justice delivery system and the public. She urged them to actively visit villages and educate the poor, women, children, persons with disabilities, and other disadvantaged groups about their legal rights, the availability of free legal services, and various government welfare schemes.
She stressed that no individual should be denied justice merely due to a lack of awareness or access to legal assistance.
During the training, officials encouraged the volunteers to intensify public outreach, organise legal awareness campaigns in rural communities, and play a proactive role in identifying and resolving the legal issues faced by vulnerable citizens. They emphasized that a dedicated and well-trained PLV can make a significant difference in improving access to justice and transforming the lives of many families.
The programme was attended by Chief of the Legal Aid Defence Counsel System Subodh Kumar Dafadar, Deputy Chief Md. Nukmuddin Sheikh, Assistant Gangaram Dudu, along with Para Legal Volunteers from across the district.
