Police conduct mock drill ahead of Muharram

June 24, 2026

Nityanand Dubey

Garhwa

In a bid to ensure effective law and order management and reinforce security measures during the upcoming Muharram festival, a detailed mock drill was organized on Wednesday at the parade ground of the Police Centre, Garhwa. The exercise was conducted under the directives of Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Shekhar and supervised by Parade Officer Sandeep Kumar.

During the drill, police personnel carried out demonstrations of riot-control tactics, crowd management techniques, and emergency response operations. The exercise showcased the preparedness of the force in handling unruly situations, dispersing crowds, responding swiftly to sensitive incidents, and maintaining coordination among different security units.

The mock drill was aimed at ensuring prompt action against any potential law-and-order challenges during Muharram, including the spread of rumors, overcrowding, and other unforeseen situations that could disrupt peace and harmony.

Security units from across the district actively participated in the exercise, including Quick Response Teams (QRTs) deployed in Garhwa, Ranka, and Shri Banshidhar Nagar subdivisions, the TG contingent of the India Reserve Battalion (IRB), and personnel from the District Armed Police Force.

Speaking at the conclusion of the exercise, Parade Officer Sandeep Kumar directed all personnel to remain vigilant and fully alert throughout the festival period. He urged them to discharge their duties with sincerity and immediately report any suspicious activity to senior officials.

Parade Officer Satpal Singh and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Dadhibal Singh were also present during the drill. They provided guidance and operational instructions to the participating personnel to further enhance security preparedness for the festival.
