The Pakur district administration has initiated an inquiry into alleged irregularities in the construction of the Rs 78 Lakh PCC road connecting PM SHRI Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Bakshisa, following reports of poor construction quality. The decision came after a news report published on July 10 highlighted cracks and damage on the road within just four months of its completion.
The DC said a team has been constituted to investigate the matter and warned that the contractor would be blacklisted if the inquiry confirms irregularities.
The road, constructed by the Special Division Department, has reportedly developed multiple cracks, while local residents have also complained that the road shoulders (flanks) were left incomplete. Local MLA Hemlal Murmu had earlier expressed concern over the poor quality of the project.
PM SHRI Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya currently has 404 students enrolled from Classes VI to XII. The school became operational toward the end of 2024, and the road was built to improve access to the campus.
However, within seven months of its construction, the road has reportedly begun deteriorating, raising concerns over the quality of work executed. School Principal Dr. Avadhesh Kumar also expressed dissatisfaction over the condition of the road, stating that the damage reflects serious deficiencies in construction quality.
The district administration has assured that strict action will be taken against those responsible if the allegations are substantiated by the inquiry.
