Ranchi Police on Wednesday successfully conducted a district-wide Public Grievance Programme across all police stations, providing residents with a direct platform to present their concerns before senior police officials. Hundreds of complaints were received during the initiative, with a majority resolved on the spot, while more complex cases were taken up for detailed investigation.
The programme witnessed significant public participation at police stations including Nagri, Pundag, Pandra OP, Budhmu, Lalpur, Sukhdeo Nagar, and other police establishments across Ranchi district. Station House Officers (SHOs) and other police personnel heard grievances from citizens and disposed of many cases immediately. Matters requiring further inquiry were registered for follow-up action.
Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) and other senior officers remained present at the police stations throughout the programme to ensure prompt redressal of complaints and effective supervision of the grievance-handling process.
Ranchi Police has now decided to institutionalize the initiative by organizing the Public Grievance Programme every Wednesday at all police stations and outposts across the district. Senior police officers, including those of DSP rank, will continue to participate in the weekly exercise.
According to the police administration, the primary objective of the initiative is to bridge the gap between the public and the police by making senior officers more accessible at the local level. The programme is expected to eliminate the need for citizens to visit higher police offices repeatedly, allowing them instead to present their grievances directly before senior officials at their nearest police station
