The Superintendent of Police (Traffic) has issued a traffic advisory in view of the Jharkhand Tribal Festival 2026 and the ‘Jatra’ procession scheduled for August 9. Anticipating large crowds at these events on August 9 and 10, changes to traffic routes and special parking arrangements have been implemented.
The movement of all types of vehicles will be completely suspended on several routes between 8:00 AM and 2:00 PM on August 9. Specifically, the stretches from Jail Chowk to Karamtoli Chowk, Karamtoli Chowk to the SSP Residence turn, and the SSP Residence turn to Bapu Vatika (Morabadi) will remain completely closed to traffic.
Vehicles arriving from the Borya Road side will be parked at the TRI Ground parking area. Vehicles coming from Tatisilwai, Khelgaon, Booty More, RIMS, and Bariatu will be parked at the DIG Ground. Depending on the situation, traffic diversions and temporary halts in vehicle movement may be implemented on other routes.
Ranchi Police has appealed to the public to avoid using four-wheelers on routes near Jail Chowk, Karamtoli Chowk, the SSP Residence intersection, and Morabadi. Four-wheelers should be used on these routes only in case of an emergency.
Preparations for the Tribal Festival 2026—organized to showcase Jharkhand’s rich tribal culture, traditions, art, and heritage on national and international platforms—have reached their final stage. The event is scheduled to be held at Morabadi Ground in Ranchi on August 9 and 10, coinciding with World Tribal Day.
Given the expected arrival of thousands of people at Morabadi Ground, security arrangements have been accorded top priority. Measures include the deployment of adequate security forces, CCTV surveillance across the entire venue, the availability of emergency medical facilities, and the presence of fire tenders. Separate entry and exit points will be designated for crowd control, and special facilities will be provided for women, the elderly, and differently-abled visitors.
