Two smugglers held in Lohardaga with brown sugar

In a major crackdown on the illegal drug trade, Lohardaga police arrested two youths with 7.40 grams of brown sugar. After receiving a tip-off from the Superintendent of Police regarding the purchase, sale, and consumption of brown sugar, Lohardaga police immediately raided a vacant house in Alinagar. The raid, conducted in the presence of Sadar Circle Officer R.N. Khalkho, found the two accused red-handed with the brown sugar. During the search, police recovered brown sugar packed in three large and 20 small packets. Preliminary examination revealed its weight to be 7.68 grams, while testing with a DD kit revealed its net weight to be 7.40 grams. Additionally, two Vivo Android mobile phones and ₹3,015 in cash were seized from the accused. All the recovered items were seized following due process. The arrested accused have been identified as 27-year-old Imroz Ansari alias Haider, son of Maqbool Ansari, a resident of Thana Toli, and 25-year-old Javed Ansari alias Billa, son of Kalim Ansari, a resident of Hirhi Barkatoli. A case was registered against them under sections 17(b), 21(b), 22(b), and 29 of the NDPS Act, 1985, in Lohardaga Police Station Case No. 89/2026.
