Vocational Training launched for surrendered Maoists at Hazaribagh Jail

In a significant step towards the rehabilitation and social reintegration of surrendered Naxalites, vocational training in poultry farming and tailoring was launched at the Surrendered Naxalite Prison in Hazaribagh on Friday.
The training programme, initiated under the state government’s surrender and rehabilitation policy, is aimed at providing both male and female surrendered Naxalite inmates with livelihood skills and helping them become self-reliant.
Hazaribagh Deputy Commissioner Hemant Sati inaugurated the training programme on July 31. The training will be conducted by the Jan Shikshan Sansthan, Hazaribagh.
Addressing the inmates, Sati said the state government’s surrender policy was not limited to rehabilitation alone, but also sought to provide surrendered inmates with opportunities for dignified livelihoods and help them become responsible and self-reliant members of society.
He said skill development would provide the inmates with a new direction and enable them to make a fresh start in life with confidence. The training in poultry farming and tailoring is expected to equip participants with practical skills that can help them pursue sustainable livelihood opportunities after rehabilitation.
