XLRI takes new digital library initiatives, launches Nova 3.0

XLRI – Xavier School of Management, Jamshedpur, has taken a major step towards strengthening its digital library services with the launch of new technology-driven initiatives aimed at improving access to academic and research resources.
The initiatives were unveiled during the celebration of National Librarians’ Day at the Sir Jehangir Ghandy Library, commemorating the 134th birth anniversary of Padma Shri Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, widely regarded as the Father of Library Science in India.
A key highlight of the programme was the launch of Nova 3.0 – the XL-LibBot (AI Assistant) by Prof. H. K. Pradhan, Program Director – PGDM (Finance). Integrated with the Summon Discovery Service, the AI-powered assistant will help users retrieve relevant electronic resources more efficiently.
Prof. Pradhan commended the XLRI Library for its high-quality services and its longstanding contribution to supporting the institute’s academic and research community.
Another major initiative was the launch of “Retrospective Digitisation of Doctoral Theses” by XLRI Director Dr. (Fr.) Sebastian George, SJ. The initiative is aimed at preserving the institute’s valuable doctoral research and making it accessible in digital form.
Dr. (Fr.) Donald D’Silva, SJ, Dean (A&F), launched XL-LibRemote, the library’s in-house off-site access portal, providing users with convenient access to library resources beyond the campus.
The digital initiatives were part of a broader effort by the XLRI Library to enhance its services through technology while strengthening support for students, faculty members and researchers. D. T. Edwin, Head – Library, highlighted the library’s growth in recent years, including its extensive resources, enhanced premium services and professionally trained human resources. He stressed the importance of continuous human resource development to keep pace with technological advancements.
