The monsoon is set to pick up pace once again in Jharkhand. The Meteorological Department forecast an intensification of rainfall activity across the State starting July 25. The department issue warnings for heavy rain, strong winds, thunderstorms and lightning strikes in several districts over the next three days.
In light of this, the public is urged to remain vigilant and follow the Meteorological Department’s advisories. Light to moderate rainfall was recorded in various parts of the state over the last 24 hours. The highest rainfall, measuring 52 mm, was recorded in Koderma. Additionally, Simdega received 26 mm of rain, while Balumath and Jamshedpur recorded 25 mm each. Ranchi, also experienced intermittent light rain throughout the day.
The department forecast heavy rainfall in various districts of the state from July 25 to July 27. Heavy rain is likely in Lohardaga, Ranchi, Gumla, Seraikela-Kharsawan, East Singhbhum, and Simdega on July 25. On July 26, heavy rainfall is expected in Hazaribagh, Ranchi, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Jamtara, Deoghar, Giridih, and Koderma.
Heavy rain may occur in Chatra, Latehar, Lohardaga, Gumla, Khunti, Ranchi, and Ramgarh on July 27. Furthermore, skies are expected to remain cloudy across most districts on Sturday, with a likelihood of light to moderate rain and heavy downpours in several areas.
The department also informe that strong winds blowing at speeds of 30 to 40 km/h are likely in several districts today. There is also a possibility of thunderstorms and lightning strikes. Yellow and orange alerts have been issued for several districts, including Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Bokaro, Khunti, West Singhbhum, and Seraikela-Kharsawan. The department has appealed to the public to avoid standing in open fields, under trees, or near electricity poles, and to exercise necessary caution during inclement weather.
Temperatures are likely to remain below normal across most parts of the State due to continuous rainfall and cloud cover. In the capital, Ranchi, the maximum temperature is expected to range between 29°C and 30°C, with a minimum of 22°C to 23°C, offering residents relief from humidity and heat.
Pleasant weather conditions are also forecast for Jamshedpur and Bokaro. However, in north-western districts like Palamu, Garhwa, and Chatra, where rainfall activity is expected to be relatively lower, maximum temperatures could reach 33°C to 35°C.
The persistent rainfall is also expected to have a positive impact on air quality. Forecasts suggest that the Air Quality Index (AQI) will likely range between 35 and 50 for Ranchi, 40 and 60 for Jamshedpur, 45 and 60 for Bokaro, 55 and 70 for Dhanbad, and 40 and 55 for Deoghar. Consequently, residents in most parts of the state can expect cleaner and better air quality.
