It was a simple but joyful ceremony of ‘return of missing cell phones’ here in the SP office of Palamu on Saturday in Daltonganj.
State DG of police Tadasha Mishra had asked the SPs of 24 districts to hold return of missing cell phones function every 25th of the month.
DGP has this conviction that this will add to public trust and confidence in the police set up.
SP Kapil Chaudhary had this ceremony on Saturday July 25. Mediapersons were called in at 30 minutes shortest intimation.
There had come men and women to collect their missing cell phones retrieved by the police.
They looked surprisingly amused to find their missing cell phones back to them as the common refrain was there was no hope of getting back the missing cell phones.

Police have retrieved 104 missing cell phones in the past two months informed the SP Kapil Chaudhary.
At least twenty people turned up in the function to collect their missing cell phones.
It included 3 women, one of the three was a lady cop of Jharkhand police posted in Palamu.
The lady cop who refused to share her name said she had lost her cell phone in May this year.
A man of Chainpur got back his missing cell phone after 3 years and looked angry that the man in whose possession was his cell phone in all these years, had used it ruthlessly. He didnot say a word of thanks to Chainpur police, which had made the officer in charge of the Chainpur police station Lalji quite disheartened.
Lalji said in a hushed tone ” The man who got his cellphone after 3 years has still grudge against the police.”
Rehla police station had the highest return of the missing cell phones. It was 14.
At least 5 police stations namely Pipra, Hussainabad, Mohammadganj, Parwa, Manatu and Pandu had no case of return of missing cell phones in this function.
There is hardly any month when complaints about missing cell phones do not reach the 19 police stations in Palamu.
It’s almost one a day affair reiterated the SP. He asked for caution for cell phones when in the crowded places.
Men are more great sufferer in comparison to women in episodes of cell phones going missing reiterated the SP.
There are cases where a missing cell phone is out of state and not in use.
SP said a functional missing cell phone is only recoverable, not the dead or dysfunctional one.
