3-day Gyan Utsav started today on 23rd June 2026

To celebrate the 64th Foundation Day of Management Training Institute (MTI), SAIL, which is on 25th June, L&D Conclave-Gyan Utsav has been organised at MTI from 23rd June to 25th June 2026. About 150 speakers, delegates and guests from BCG, SHRM and CBC will be participating the Learning & Development (L&D) Conclave-Gyan Utsav. The EDs and CGMs of the SAIL Ranchi-based Units (RBU) and the Heads of Training (HOTs) of different Plants/Units of SAIL and HR-L&D Executives will also attend the Gyan Utsav.
MTI was established on 25th June 1962. It is the Corporate L&D Institute of the Maharatna Company, SAIL. It not only trains executives for leadership and managerial skills development but also in the field of finance, strategy, marketing and contract & commercial areas. Many techno-managerial programmes and workshops like the Learning from Each Other (LEO) Workshops are organised which conclude with effective solutions for plant problems. Faculty of MTI also conduct programmes at various plants and units of SAIL and external organisations. MTI facilitates many L&D interventions at SAIL plants and units. The MTI infrastructure comprises state-of-the-art L&D facilities, conference Halls, PC Lab, hostel and dining facilities etc. It has an extended-reality (XR) Lab which helps in the learning of the digital technology tools & techniques.
The 3-day Gyan Utsav started today on 23rd June 2026 with the inaugural session. Welcoming & Setting the Context was done by Shri Sanjay Dhar, ED (HR-L&D), MTI. The opening address was made by Shri K. K. Singh, Director (Personnel), SAIL. He spoke on Capability Building for World Class Company. The Keynote Address was made by Dr. Alka Mittal, Member-Administration (Capacity Building Commission), GoI. She spoke about Skilling for Viksit Bharat and the various initiatives launched by the GoI and the roles the PSUs and corporates to make the initiatives successful.
Then Shri Amogh Deshmukh, Head of Leadership Practice, SHRM India gave a talk on Future of Learning: People Perspective. He spoke on Future of Learning: Digital Perspective. Thereafter Award Distribution was organised for the Top Learners of various learning initiatives and modules. The Vote of Thanks was given by Shri Atanu Mukherjee, GM I/c (HR-L&D), MTI.
In the afternoon, three concurrent Conclave Workshops have started on the themes viz. Development of Centre of Excellence (CoEs), Digital Learning in SAIL and Driving Learning at Workplace, which will continue till 24th June 2026. On 25th June 2026 Presentation of Roadmaps from Conclave Workshops will be made, followed by Awards Distribution to the Best Department in L&D and felicitation of Heads of Training (HoTs) will be done. At the conclusion of the Gyan Utsav, Shri Sanjay Dhar, ED (HR-L&D), MTI will discuss on the Way Forward and the Conclave Resolution for further growth in the L&D initiatives of the Company. Shri Priyaranjan, DIC, Bokaro Steel Plant will chair the valedictory session.
