Preparations for Shravani Mela 2026 are gathering pace at Basukinath Dham, with authorities focusing on strengthening infrastructure, sanitation, crowd management and essential services ahead of the annual pilgrimage season.
A review of ongoing arrangements was conducted at key locations, including the designated route lines for crowd movement, Sanskar Mandap and the sacred Shivganga pond. Departments have been directed to complete all pending works within the stipulated time frame to ensure smooth conduct of the mela.
Sanitation remains a major focus area, with plans for regular cleaning drives, scientific waste disposal and continuous maintenance of public spaces across the mela premises. Special attention is being given to keeping Shivganga pond clean and safe for devotees performing religious rituals.
Preparations are also underway to strengthen power infrastructure. Inspection and repair of overhead power lines, transformers and other electrical installations are being carried out to prevent disruptions during the festival. High-intensity lighting will be installed along major pathways and transit points to facilitate safe movement of pilgrims, particularly during night hours.
Authorities are also working to enhance essential amenities such as drinking water facilities, public toilets and security arrangements. Crowd management strategies are being fine-tuned in view of the large number of devotees expected to visit the temple town.
During a recent review of the preparations, Dumka Deputy Commissioner Abhijit Sinha stressed the need for timely completion of all works and emphasised that providing a safe, clean and convenient environment for devotees remains a priority.
