Under the aegis of the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (JHALSA) and the leadership of Sudhanshu Kumar Shashi, Principal District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman of DLSA Dumka, the Permanent Lok Adalat (PLA) conducted a comprehensive legal awareness campaign on Friday. Held inside the BSNL office compound, the drive focused on empowering ordinary citizens, including rural folk, women, and senior citizens, by introducing them to institutional grievance redressal mechanisms and free legal provisions.
Elaborating on the scope of the forum, PLA members Neeta Kumari and Kajal Kumari explained how the permanent body operates as a robust mechanism for pre-litigation settlement. They noted that disputes tied to essential public utility services can be resolved here amicably without stepping into standard courtrooms, thereby saving the public from exorbitant legal fees and years of stressful litigation.
The legal team extensively briefed the audience on handling disputes related to banking anomalies, insurance claims, electricity billing, water supply disruptions, and municipal governance, while also guiding them on how to secure benefits from state welfare schemes.
The workshop was supported by top BSNL officials, including DGM Subhash Chandra Chatterjee, AGM Lakhindra Murmu, and Junior Accounts Officer Sulabh Badgawayan. To ensure the message reached the grassroots, Para Legal Volunteers distributed simplified legal literature and held one-on-one counseling sessions to address personal grievances, underscoring the authority’s commitment to making justice accessible to the most vulnerable sections of society.
