Sensory Integration Centre inaugurated at Deepshikha

A newly developed Sensory Integration Centre dedicated to children with special needs was inaugurated at Deepshikha on Shraddhanand Road in Ranchi. The centre aims to provide specialised therapeutic and rehabilitation services to children with developmental delays, intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism, deafblindness, multiple disabilities and multisensory impairments.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Dr. Prabhat Kumar, Civil Surgeon of Sadar Hospital, Ranchi, as the chief guest. Welcoming the guests, Sudha Lhila, Secretary of Deepshikha, highlighted the organisation’s activities and achievements and later conducted a tour of its various units.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Kumar praised the dedication of the Deepshikha team in supporting children with developmental and sensory disabilities across Ranchi and Jharkhand. He assured continued support in training programmes and other initiatives aimed at strengthening rehabilitation services for persons with disabilities.
Debojit Das provided a detailed overview of the sensory integration equipment installed at the centre and explained how these tools would help improve children’s sensory processing, motor skills, attention span and daily living abilities.
Mohuna Dutta, Head of Calcutta Social Project (CSP), expressed happiness over the collaboration with Deepshikha. She said the partnership would enable more children with autism, deafblindness and developmental delays to access specialised services across Jharkhand.
Dr. Uma Sengupta elaborated on the importance of sensory integration therapy, stating that it plays a significant role in enhancing learning abilities, independence and overall quality of life for children with developmental disabilities.
The newly established centre is expected to emerge as an important resource for special-needs children and strengthen rehabilitation services in Jharkhand.
