Loyola School celebrates International Yoga Day

Loyola School celebrated International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm and active participation from students, reaffirming its commitment to promoting physical fitness, mental well-being and a healthy lifestyle among young learners.
The celebrations commenced in the Junior Section on June 19, when a Mass Yoga Session was organized at the school’s basketball court. Students of Standards III, IV and V participated enthusiastically under the guidance of yoga instructor Rani Singh. The young participants performed a variety of yoga postures, including Surya Namaskar, Adhomukhasana, Trikonasana and Shashankasana, demonstrating discipline, concentration and flexibility.
A special attraction of the programme was an impressive display of yoga formations presented by a group of students. The synchronized performance drew appreciation from teachers and fellow students alike, highlighting the importance of regular yoga practice in daily life.
The celebrations continued in the Senior Section on June 22, where students of Class VI presented a captivating yoga display during the morning assembly on the school grounds. The performance showcased various asanas and reflected the students’ balance, flexibility and focus. Through their presentation, the students also conveyed the significance of yoga in maintaining physical health, emotional stability and inner harmony.
Speaking on the occasion, teachers emphasized that yoga is not merely a form of exercise but a holistic approach to life that nurtures both the body and mind. The observance of International Yoga Day served as an opportunity to encourage students to adopt healthy habits and integrate yoga into their daily routines.
Principal Fr. Vinod Fernandes, Vice Principals Jayanthi Sheshadri and Vineeta F. Ekka, along with members of the teaching staff, were present during the celebrations. They appreciated the students for their enthusiastic participation and commendable performances, encouraging them to continue embracing yoga as a pathway to a healthy and disciplined life.
