Five-day State-level residential chess camp concludes at SBPS

June 27, 2026

Ranchi

Sarala Birla Public School (SBPS), Ranchi, concluded its five-day State-Level Residential Chess Camp 2026 – Checkmate Champions with a vibrant closing ceremony celebrating the dedication, discipline and remarkable progress of the young chess players who participated in the intensive training programme.

The valedictory function featured a warm welcome for guests, felicitation of dignitaries, an energetic martial arts dance performance, distribution of trophies and certificates to participants, and a vote of thanks, bringing the residential camp to a fitting close.

During the five-day camp, participants received intensive coaching from Grandmaster Himanshu Sharma and FIDE Trainer Abhishek Das. The training sessions focused on enhancing tactical awareness, strategic planning and decision-making skills, while the residential format encouraged discipline, sportsmanship, confidence and camaraderie among the young players.

The closing ceremony was attended by Manish Kumar, Secretary of the All Jharkhand Chess Association (AJCA), and Navjot Singh Alang, Organising Secretary of the Ranchi District Chess Association (RDCA) and Joint Secretary of the Federation of Jharkhand Chess Clubs (FJCC).

Principal Manisha Sharma congratulated the participants for their commitment and perseverance throughout the camp. She said chess cultivates patience, analytical thinking and resilience—qualities that help students make thoughtful decisions both in academics and in life.

She also expressed gratitude to Grandmaster Himanshu Sharma and FIDE Trainer Abhishek Das for mentoring the young participants and sharing their expertise, making the camp an enriching learning experience for aspiring chess players.
