District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Megha Bhardwaj on Saturday inspected several polling stations in Pakur district to review the progress of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 of the electoral rolls, directing officials to ensure that every eligible voter is included in the voters’ list through a transparent and time-bound process.
Accompanied by Pakur Assembly Returning Officer-cum-Additional Collector James Surin, the Deputy Commissioner visited Rahaspur, Booth No. 266, Booth No. 193 at Ranidanga Primary School and Booth No. 403 at Bank Colony.
During the inspection, she reviewed the work being carried out by Booth Level Officers (BLOs), including maintenance of records, door-to-door verification, status of applications received from voters and compliance with the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed BLOs and supervisors to strictly adhere to the Commission’s directions and ensure that every eligible elector is covered within the stipulated timeline. She stressed that the revision exercise must be completed with 100 per cent coverage and without compromising transparency or accuracy.
Bhardwaj said the primary objective of the Special Intensive Revision is to prepare an error-free, updated and inclusive electoral roll. She emphasised the need to enrol all eligible new voters, remove the names of ineligible or shifted voters in accordance with prescribed procedures and carry out necessary corrections fairly and efficiently.
She also directed officials to ensure that no eligible citizen is left out of the electoral roll and that every application is processed promptly in accordance with election rules, enabling all eligible voters to exercise their democratic rights without difficulty.
During her visit, the Deputy Commissioner also interacted with local residents and appealed to them to verify their names in the electoral roll, submit applications wherever required and encourage other eligible citizens to participate in the revision exercise.
