BJP State spokesperson Rafia Naz reacting on the remarks of State Health Minister Irfan Ansari on RIMS 2, stated that people of Jharkhand need life-saving facilities in hospitals, not new dreams. At a time when RIMS—the state’s largest government hospital—is grappling with a shortage of doctors, nurses, medicines, beds, and essential equipment, the announcement of ‘RIMS Part-2’ is akin to rubbing salt into the public’s wounds rather than healing them.
Rafia Naz remarked that when poor patients from Jharkhand arrive at the hospital for treatment, they are met with long queues, empty wards, a lack of medicines, and a wait for doctors rather than immediate care. Many families are forced to incur debt, sell land, and run from pillar to post in a desperate attempt to save their loved ones. This situation is not merely a systemic failure but a consequence of the Health Department’s apathy.
She pointed out that the 2025 report by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India has exposed the Health Department’s negligence. As of March 2022, out of 3,634 sanctioned medical posts, 2,210 were vacant; similarly, 3,033 out of 5,872 staff nurse positions and 864 out of 1,080 paramedical posts remained unfilled. The failure to fill these vacancies despite the passage of years demonstrates that poor patients have never been a priority for the Health Department.
