Reinforcing its commitment to sustainable rural development, ESL Steel has launched its Millet Mission under Project WADI & CLAP (Community Livelihood and Agricultural Programme). The initiative aims to bring 500 acres under millet cultivation across villages in its operational areas, promoting climate-resilient agriculture, improved nutrition, sustainable livelihoods, and women empowerment.
The programme encourages farmers to adopt millet cultivation through technical guidance, training, and market support. It also seeks to enhance farmers’ income by promoting value-added millet products while engaging Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in millet processing, packaging, and marketing.
The launch was held at the ESL Skill School in the presence of Head-CSR Kunal Daripa, Project Lead-WADI & CLAP Aakarsh Pandey, Project Coordinator of Gramin Seva Sangh Ved Prakash Singh, and trainer Anjani Kumar Sinha.
CEO and Whole-Time Director Ravish Sharma said the Millet Mission reflects the company’s commitment to building self-reliant rural communities by promoting sustainable farming practices that improve livelihoods while protecting the environment. The initiative is expected to create long-term opportunities for farming families across Jharkhand.
