A PCC road built at a cost of Rs 78 lakh under the District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT) to connect PM SHRI Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya at Bakshisa has developed cracks within just seven months of its construction, raising questions over the quality of work.
Local residents alleged that the contractor completed the project hastily without adhering to construction standards. They claimed the road shoulders were left unfinished and inferior materials were used, resulting in cracks and surface damage. Villagers have demanded a detailed inquiry and action against those responsible.
The road provides access to PM SHRI Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, where 404 students from Classes VI to XII are studying. School Principal Dr. Avdhesh Kumar also expressed concern over the deteriorating condition of the road and questioned the quality of construction.
Littipara MLA Hemlal Murmu termed the issue serious and said he had personally recommended the road after finding the school inaccessible during the rainy season. He expressed disappointment that the newly constructed road had deteriorated so quickly.
Deputy Development Commissioner Arvind Kumar Lal assured that the matter would be investigated through a ground-level inspection. Executive Engineer Subhash Singh also said a technical inquiry would be conducted and appropriate action taken if construction deficiencies are confirmed.
