The intensity of heat has increased across Jharkhand, including the capital Ranchi, with several districts recording a rise of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in the past 24 hours. According to the Meteorological Department, there is little likelihood of relief from the heat and humidity in the coming days, as dry weather conditions are expected to persist throughout the week.
As per data released on Wednesday, Ranchi recorded an increase of around 2°C in its maximum temperature over the last 24 hours. Jamshedpur and Bokaro witnessed a sharper rise, with temperatures increasing by 3°C and 2°C respectively. The continuous rise in temperature has led to intense sunlight and uncomfortable humidity, making conditions difficult for residents.
The highest temperature in the state was recorded in Daltonganj (Palamu) at 40°C, while the lowest was noted in Namkum, Ranchi, at 20.6°C. Hazaribagh recorded the highest rainfall during this period, with 2.4 mm precipitation.
Weather conditions remained clear in Ranchi and surrounding areas since Wednesday morning, with no cloud cover, resulting in strong sunlight. Reduced movement was observed in markets and on roads during the afternoon compared to usual days, as people avoided stepping out in the heat.
On Wednesday, Ranchi recorded a maximum temperature of 33°C and a minimum of 20.9°C. Jamshedpur reported a maximum of 39.2°C and a minimum of 28.2°C, while Daltonganj registered 40°C and 24.9°C respectively.
Similarly, Bokaro recorded a maximum temperature of 38.1°C and a minimum of 27.1°C, while Chaibasa reported 36.8°C and 26.6°C respectively.
Meteorologists have indicated that temperatures are likely to remain above normal in most parts of the state in the coming days. In view of the rising heat and humidity, people have been advised to take precautions, avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during peak hours, stay hydrated, and adopt measures to protect themselves from heat-related illnesses.
