Kolhan Dynamos, Santhal Challengers shine in Women’s League

The Jharkhand Women’s Premier League 2026 commenced with a grand opening ceremony at the Oval Ground of JSCA Stadium in Ranchi, marked by vibrant cultural performances and enthusiastic participation. Artists from Seraikela presented an impressive Chhau dance, adding color and energy to the inauguration.
The tournament was formally inaugurated by Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) President Ajay Nath Shahdeo, Vice-President Sanjay Pandey, Secretary Saurabh Tiwary, and Joint Secretary Shahbaz Nadeem, who also interacted with players from all four participating teams.
Addressing the gathering, JSCA Secretary Saurabh Tiwary said that organizing the Women’s Premier League was a priority for the association and assured that the tournament would be expanded in scale in the coming years. He also announced that although no player auction was held, all participants would receive a respectable remuneration from the association.
JSCA President Ajay Nath Shahdeo congratulated everyone involved in organizing the event and announced a cash prize of ₹3 lakh for the winning team and ₹2 lakh for the runners-up.
On the opening day, two matches were played. In the first match, Kolhan Dynamos defeated Chotanagpur Blasters by 8 wickets. Mamta Paswan was named Player of the Match, while Durga Murmu won the award for maximum sixes and Mamta Paswan was also recognized as the best economical bowler. The awards were presented by JSCA officials, and the cash prizes were sponsored by Moments Company.
In the second match, Santhal Challengers defeated Palamu Warriors by 6 wickets. Ritu Kumari was adjudged Player of the Match, while Chandmuni Purti received the award for maximum sixes and Shanti Kumari was honored as the best economical bowler. These awards were also sponsored by Moments Company.
Several dignitaries were present at the event, including JSCA Treasurer Amitabha Ghosh, former President Sanjay Sahay, former Vice-President Dr. Narendra Sinha, former Joint Secretary P. N. Singh, executive members Mihir Pratyush Topno, Sanjay Jain, Ramesh Kumar, and representatives from various district cricket associations.
