In a major push to modernize public education, the Dumka district administration has launched Project DEEP (Digital Experience and Educational Program), introducing Virtual Reality (VR) technology in government schools to make learning more interactive and technology-driven.
The initiative, launched under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Abhijit Sinha, aims to bridge the digital divide by using VR headsets to enhance classroom learning and spark students’ interest in science, technology, engineering and other subjects. To ensure wider access, the VR equipment will be rotated among government schools across the district under a planned schedule.
Deputy Commissioner Sinha recently visited the CM School of Excellence (Girls) in Dumka to review the implementation of the project. During his interaction with students using the VR devices, he encouraged them to embrace emerging technologies and cultivate curiosity for learning. He said technology-driven education is essential for making classroom teaching more engaging and helping students better understand complex concepts.
Through the VR headsets, students can experience immersive three-dimensional learning environments, allowing them to explore space, study the human body, and virtually visit historical sites. Officials said the technology transforms theoretical lessons into visual and interactive experiences, improving comprehension, retention and critical thinking.
The district administration believes Project DEEP will help develop scientific temper, logical reasoning and digital literacy among students while providing government school children with access to advanced educational tools that are often available only in private institutions.
Officials said the administration plans to further expand the use of VR-based learning modules in schools, reaffirming its commitment to creating a modern, inclusive and technology-enabled education system that equips students with the skills needed for the future.
