The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday intensified its attack on the JMM-Congress government over alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC), accusing the ruling alliance of evading questions ahead of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha’s (BJYM) proposed gherao of the JPSC headquarters on July 22.
Jharkhand BJP spokesperson Ashok Baraik alleged that the Congress was attempting to divert attention from issues concerning recruitment and examination transparency because of the BJP’s planned agitation. He claimed that thousands of students, job aspirants and BJYM workers from across the state would participate in the protest to demand justice for unemployed youth.
Questioning the recruitment process, Baraik sought explanations from the state government over the declaration of the 14th JPSC examination results, the non-disclosure of cut-off marks, the evaluation process and the engagement of an agency that he alleged had previously been blacklisted in Uttar Pradesh.
The BJP leader asserted that the July 22 protest was aimed at safeguarding the interests and future of Jharkhand’s unemployed youth rather than serving any political agenda.
Baraik also accused the Congress of lacking the moral authority to criticise the BJP, alleging that several national-level examinations, including AIPMT, AIEEE, AIIMS and CBSE tests, witnessed paper leak controversies during the party’s tenure at the Centre. He claimed that no stringent legal framework had been introduced at the time to curb such offences.
Highlighting the Centre’s measures, Baraik said the Narendra Modi-led government enacted the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, to tackle paper leaks and ensure strict punishment for offenders. He further demanded a fair investigation into all allegations related to JPSC recruitment, warning that the BJP would continue its campaign until transparency and accountability were ensured.
