DC Bokaro Ajay Nath Jha on Thursday reviewed the progress of the e-Telemedicine and Mobile Nutrition Van programme at the Collectorate, stressing the need to strengthen grassroots healthcare and accelerate efforts towards a malnutrition-free district.
Officials informed that health and nutrition services are being delivered through 27 Anganwadi centres in Gomia and Peterwar blocks. So far, 828 children have undergone nutritional screening, while 653 beneficiaries have received specialist consultations through telemedicine. Regular nutrition support and continuous monitoring have led to encouraging improvements in children’s health.
The DC directed officials to prioritise maternal and child healthcare, strengthen Anganwadi services, promote locally available nutritious food and enhance awareness about the Malnutrition Treatment Centre (MTC) to ensure timely treatment of severely malnourished children. He also stressed better inter-departmental coordination for effective implementation of welfare schemes.
Deputy Development Commissioner Shatabdi Majumdar, trainee IAS Arvind Radhakrishnan, Civil Surgeon Dr A.B. Prasad, DMO Ravi Kumar, District Social Welfare Officer Dr Suman Gupta, APRO Avinash Kumar Singh, trainee Jharkhand Administrative Service officers and representatives of the Raj Kumari Foundation attended the meeting.
