Patients at Ranchi’s Sadar Hospital can now access advanced diagnostic and treatment facilities comparable to those available in metropolitan cities at affordable rates, as the district administration continues to strengthen healthcare services at the government-run hospital.
During a surprise inspection, officials reviewed the CT scan, MRI, pathology, OPD, pediatric and orthopedic wards, besides assessing medicine availability, staff attendance, cleanliness, patient amenities and overall hospital infrastructure. Necessary directions were issued to further improve service delivery.
The hospital is now equipped with modern medical equipment, reducing the need for patients to travel to costly private hospitals. Key facilities include a 128-slice CT scan, MRI, 24×7 ultrasound and colour Doppler, digital X-ray, dialysis, teleradiology and a Tele-ICU hub for continuous monitoring of critically ill patients. Services such as echocardiography, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, nerve conduction tests and EEG are also available, while super-specialty services and robotic surgery are expected to be introduced soon.
During the visit, officials also appealed to parents to avoid excessive mobile phone use by young children after noticing a toddler using a smartphone in the hospital. They highlighted the adverse impact of prolonged screen time on children’s physical and mental development, including eyesight, sleep and concentration.
Sadar Hospital has received the Muskan Award and holds a ranking of 96. The administration said regular District Health Committee meetings are being held to review healthcare services, introduce new facilities and ensure continuous improvement in patient care.
