The Deoghar district committee of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) staged a protest at Tower Chowk on Wednesday and burned an effigy of the Central government to condemn alleged irregularities in NEET 2026, reported errors in CBSE marking, and police action against students and youth protesters in New Delhi.
The demonstration was led by district president Sanjay Sharma and drew participation from the JMM, Jharkhand Student Morcha, Jharkhand Youth Morcha, and the Women’s Morcha. Speakers said the protest was part of a wider movement by students demanding accountability and a transparent inquiry into the alleged paper leak and exam-related irregularities.
Sharma said the party would continue to join public movements if the government resorted to force against peaceful demonstrators. Former spokesperson Suresh Sah accused the Centre of failure on multiple fronts, while former candidate Parimal Singh criticized the government for joblessness and harsh treatment of dissenting students.
Women’s Morcha president Neelam Devi demanded compensation of Rs. 50 lakh for an injured female protester, calling the lathi charge unacceptable. Student Morcha district secretary Sanjay Mehra also condemned the use of force against students and said the government should address unemployment and student grievances instead.
