Deoghar police bust drug traffickers’ gang, one held

In a significant breakthrough in its ongoing drive to make the district drug-free, Deoghar Police arrested a youth from Bhagalpur with a substantial quantity of brown sugar.
Acting on specific intelligence, a special team was constituted under the leadership of SDPO Sadar Deoghar Kuldeep Kumar on the directions of Superintendent of Police Praveen Pushkar.
On June 7, 2026, the police received information that a person was transporting brown sugar from Bhagalpur to Deoghar via bus. Following the tip-off, an intensive checking drive was launched on the main road near Manokamna Sai Temple in Sai, Vikas Nagar, Banka area.
During the operation, a suspicious individual was intercepted and searched. The accused was identified as Chhotu Kumar, son of Lalu Mandal, a resident of Sabar Police Station area in Bhagalpur district. 12.02 grams of brown sugar was recovered from his possession.
The accused has been arrested and a case registered against him under Section 111(2) B of BNS-2023 and Section 20(b) of the NDPS Act at Jasidih PS Case No. 195/2026, dated 07.06.2026.
