The Indian Red Cross Society, Farakka, organised a felicitation ceremony at the Farakka Block Hall to honour noted social worker Lutful Haq for his significant contributions to social service.
Haq was recently honoured in Sydney, Australia, at an event organised by a daily newspaper for his contribution to social welfare. Following the recognition, members of the Indian Red Cross Society and other dignitaries welcomed and felicitated him at Farakka.
Speaking on the occasion, Haq said recognition for social service was not only a matter of honour but also increased his responsibility to work for society. He said appreciation from the community strengthened his resolve to continue working for people in need.
Six medical students who qualified in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) were also felicitated during the programme. Haq presented mementoes to the students and congratulated them on their achievement.
He said their success was the result of hard work and expressed hope that they would use their education and medical profession to serve society and the country. He emphasised that true success lies not only in fulfilling one’s own ambitions but also in using one’s abilities for the welfare of those in need.
The event was attended by Indian Red Cross Society Farakka secretary Kalyan Kumar Bhattacharya, advocate Rabiul Alam, Hajikul Islam, Diparjit Bhagat, Biswajit Haldar, Dipayan Talukdar, Somitro Mitra and several other dignitaries.
The programme was conducted by Debolina Banerjee. Speakers appreciated the efforts being made to promote social service, education and opportunities for the younger generation.
The ceremony thus combined the felicitation of a social worker recognised internationally with the encouragement of six young students who have qualified NEET, conveying a message of hard work, education and service to society.
