Women passengers travelling through Adityapur Railway Station will now have access to a dedicated lactation room following the inauguration of a modern facility developed by the Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Steel City. The initiative aims to provide breastfeeding mothers with a safe, hygienic and comfortable space to care for their infants while travelling.
The facility was inaugurated in the presence of senior railway officials, including Senior Divisional Commercial Manager A.K. Chaudhary, Area Railway Manager Sameer Saurav and other commercial department officials, along with Rotary Club representatives led by Krishna Kharia, Smita Parikh, Amrita Vakharia and other members.
Designed to ensure privacy and convenience, the lactation room is equipped with air conditioning, comfortable seating for up to four women, separate wet and dry waste disposal bins, and a dedicated baby changing table, creating a clean and child-friendly environment within the station premises.
Rotary Club members said the project was undertaken to improve passenger amenities and address the needs of women travelling with young children. They described the facility as part of the club’s continued commitment to community welfare and public service.
Railway officials welcomed the initiative and thanked the Rotary Club for partnering in enhancing passenger facilities. They said the lactation room would improve the travel experience for women and infants while making Adityapur Railway Station more inclusive and passenger-friendly.
Officials also expressed hope that similar facilities would be introduced at other stations across the division to further strengthen passenger amenities, particularly for women, children and other vulnerable travellers.
