DC Bokaro Ajay Nath Jha on Monday directed officials to intensify action against narcotic substances through coordinated enforcement, surveillance and awareness activities. Reviewing the NCORD Committee’s work through video conferencing, he called for a detailed action plan to strengthen prevention and monitoring.
Jha ordered special surveillance around schools, particularly during morning and evening hours, along with regular checks at identified hotspots. Police, health, drug control and other departments were asked to conduct joint inspections and repeat checks at sensitive locations.
The DC stressed that action should go beyond seizures and arrests, with officials identifying the source, supply chain and local networks involved in drug trafficking. He also directed stronger intelligence gathering and patrolling in vulnerable areas.
Jha directed that all anti-drug activities, including awareness programmes, raids, seizures and departmental action, be uploaded on the NCORD portal. He also called for joint awareness programmes in schools involving the education, police, health and social welfare departments.
Officials reported the seizure of around two grams of brown sugar and nearly one kg of ganja, with one arrest in each case during the month. Jha directed regular joint raids by SDOs and SDPOs and strict checks on the sale of restricted medicines without prescriptions.
