The Deoghar administration on Tuesday held a high-level meeting to finalise traffic management and road safety measures for the smooth conduct of the Rajkiya Shravani Mela 2026, which is expected to draw millions of devotees to the temple town.
The meeting, chaired by Sub-Divisional Officer-cum-Sub-Divisional Magistrate Ravi Kumar, focused on ensuring hassle-free movement of pilgrims, effective traffic regulation and strict compliance with road safety norms during the month-long religious event.
Addressing the meeting, the SDO directed officials to implement a comprehensive traffic management plan, including designated vehicle routes and no-entry zones in the mela area and across Deoghar town. He stressed the need to keep the city free from traffic congestion and ensure that devotees do not face inconvenience while travelling to the shrine.
The officer also instructed authorities to fix reasonable fares for buses, tempos, totos and other transport services to prevent overcharging of pilgrims. He called upon transport operators and government agencies to work in close coordination for the successful conduct of the annual fair.
The meeting was attended by the District Transport Officer, Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic), Traffic In-charge, and representatives of bus, tempo and toto owners’ associations, along with other officials. The administration reiterated that coordinated efforts by all stakeholders would be key to ensuring a safe, orderly and successful Shravani Mela.
