The monsoon has become active again in Jharkhand due to the influence of a low-pressure area formed over the Bay of Bengal. .Light to moderate rainfall was recorded in several districts, including the State Capital. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain on July 29 in 13 districts, including Ranchi.
The department predicted cloudy skies accompanied by light to moderate rain are expected in several parts of the state on July 29 and July 30 as well.
This brought relief from the humid heat and led to a significant drop in maximum temperatures. The department states that the spell of rain is likely to continue in various parts of the State on July 29 and July 30 as well. Although Jharkhand has recorded 29 percent less rainfall than normal since June 1, the recent rains have accelerated paddy transplantation, offering much-needed relief to farmers.
The Meteorological Centre has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain on July 28 for the districts of Ranchi, Khunti, Ramgarh, Simdega, Gumla, Lohardaga, Latehar, Palamu, Garhwa, Hazaribagh, Seraikela-Kharsawan, West Singhbhum, and East Singhbhum.
The State recorded only 330.3 mm of rainfall against the normal 467.4 mm—a deficit of 29 per cent from June 1 to July 27 . The State Capital,, also received 19 percent less rainfall than normal during this period. However, the rainfall situation remains relatively better in the districts of West Singhbhum, Simdega, and Seraikela-Kharsawan.
Recent rains have accelerated paddy transplantation in most districts of the state. Continuous rainfall has ensured adequate soil moisture, providing relief to farmers in their agricultural activities.
