An alert for storms and torrential rain has been issued for Jharkhand for the next five days. The Meteorological Department has stated that torrential rain is expected on July 30 in Gumla, Khunti, East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Simdega, and Seraikela-Kharsawan.
Alerts for heavy rain and lightning have been issued for Ranchi, Bokaro, Hazaribagh, Ramgarh, Lohardaga, Koderma, Dhanbad, Palamu, Garhwa, Chatra, Latehar, Deoghar, Dumka, Giridih, Godda, Jamtara, Pakur, and Sahibganj. Wind speeds may reach up to 40 km/h during this period.
On July 27, there is an alert for heavy rain in Ranchi, Lohardaga, Gumla, Khunti, East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Simdega, and Seraikela-Kharsawan. A warning for torrential rain has been issued for West Singhbhum, Simdega, Gumla, Khunti, and Lohardaga on July 28. Alerts for heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning have been issued for the entire state of Jharkhand on July 29 and July 30.
The Meteorological Department has stated that wind speeds could reach up to 40 km/h. Temperatures in Jharkhand may drop by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius following the rainfall over the next two days.
Given the weather conditions, the department has urged people to stay away from open fields, trees, and electric poles during the rain. It has also advised seeking shelter in a safe place during lightning strikes.
The Meteorological Department reported that the low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal has intensified into a depression. It is likely to strengthen further into a deep depression by July 27, an effect of which will be visible on Jharkhand’s weather. Simdega recorded the highest rainfall of 23 mm over the past 24 hours. The highest temperature of 33.4°C was recorded in Daltonganj, while the lowest temperature of 21.2°C was recorded in Latehar.
