The “Drug-Free Jharkhand – Healthy Youth, Empowered India” campaign, spearheaded by the Public Schools and Children Welfare Association (PASWA), has intensified, with a massive public awareness program organized on Sunday as part of the initiative.
The campaign was originally launched by Rural Development Minister of the Jharkhand Government and Chief Patron of PASWA, Deepika Pandey Singh. Carrying this resolve forward, PASWA spred messages to various sections of society—including youth, students, and parents—about the adverse effects of substance abuse and conveyed the message of building a drug-free society.
PASWA National President Alok Kumar Dubey said that the organization’s objective is not merely to spread awareness but to ensure public participation in making Jharkhand drug-free. He remarked that the campaign could only transform into a mass movement with the cooperation of schools, colleges, social organizations, and ordinary citizens. He added that PASWA would continue to organize drug-awareness programs, pledge drives, poster campaigns, and interactive sessions across the state in the near future.
Appreciating the efforts made by Chief Minister Hemant Soren and the Jharkhand government towards a drug-free state, Dubey emphasized that this initiative should evolve into a social movement rather than remaining just a government campaign.
The PASWA National President stated that if the state government desires, PASWA is ready to provide full support—leveraging its statewide network of schools, teachers, parents, and volunteers—to take the anti-drug awareness campaign to every village, school, and neighborhood. He asserted that Jharkhand can be made drug-free only through the combined efforts of the government and society.
Speaking on the occasion, Aditya Vikram Jaiswal remarked that substance abuse is the greatest enemy of the youth’s dreams and the future of society. Every family, school, and social organization must become a part of this campaign. PASWA aims to transform the “Drug-Free Jharkhand” initiative into a mass movement.
