Chinmaya Vidyalaya Bokaro began its golden jubilee celebrations with a grand ceremony, marking its journey since its establishment in 1977. Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annapurna Devi was the chief guest.
Former MLA Biranchi Narayan, Chinmaya Mission Bokaro resident Acharya Swamini Samyuktananda Saraswati, President Biswaroop Mukhopadhyay, Secretary Mahesh Tripathi, Treasurer RN Malik, Principal Suraj Sharma and other dignitaries attended the programme.
The event began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by recitation of Chapter 12 of the Bhagavad Gita by pre-primary students and a welcome song. Students presented a Shiva Stuti dance and a vibrant Santhali dance showcasing Jharkhand’s cultural heritage. More than 350 students later presented Krishna Leela, depicting episodes from the life of Lord Krishna.
Annapurna Devi felicitated more than 41 meritorious students for their academic performance. Addressing the gathering, she said the school’s emphasis on Indian culture, heritage and values gives it a distinct identity. She noted that its alumni have brought recognition to India both in the country and abroad. She also highlighted the important role of the younger generation in realising the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.
The minister recalled Swami Chinmayananda Saraswati’s contribution towards taking India’s rich heritage and knowledge tradition to the younger generation.
Former principals, including President Awardees Dr Hemlata Biswas and Dr Ashok Singh, along with Ashok Kumar Jha, were felicitated. Former teachers and members of the Alumni Association were also honoured.
Swamini Samyuktananda Saraswati said the institution continues to be guided by the vision and teachings of Swami Chinmayananda Saraswati. Principal Suraj Sharma urged students to understand and carry forward the school’s rich legacy. Senior Vice-Principal Narendramer Kumar proposed the vote of thanks.
